Level by level

From Potting to Bloom

Like a marigold, each child grows in stages. Tap a level to see what they’ll be able to do by the end of it.

  1. Potting
    English

Points to and names the letters A to Z, big and little, sings the ABC song, and finds the first letter of their name. Looking and naming only, no writing yet.

    Math

    Math starts at Seed 1.

  2. Seed 1
    English

Knows every letter from A to Z by name, shape and first sound, big and little, listens to stories and joins in rhymes.

    Math

Knows numbers 0 to 10: says, counts, writes and orders them, sees up to 5 at a glance, and adds or takes away 1 with toys.

  3. Seed 2
    English

Knows the sounds of 22 letters, hears rhymes, claps syllables, joins small words together and hears first sounds.

    Math

Knows numbers 11 to 20 as ten and some more, counts to 30, and adds and takes away 0, 1 and 2 within 10.

  4. Sprout 1
    English

Knows all letter sounds and the five vowels, blends two-letter chunks (at, in, up), reads three-letter word families vowel by vowel, and builds a tiny sentence one word at a time (the cat sat).

    Math

Counts to 50 and by tens, knows ways to make 5 and 10, and adds and takes away 3, 4 and 5 within 10.

  5. Sprout 2
    English

Reads about 20 sight words, reads and writes sentences like “I can see a big dog.”, and reads a little book on their own.

    Math

Counts to 100 by ones and tens, sees tens and ones, and knows adding and taking away facts within 10.

  6. Bloom 1
    English

Reads sh, ch, th and blends in words, reads short sentences and easy books, and writes a sentence with a capital and full stop.

    Math

Adds and takes away within 20, uses doubles and make 10, solves word problems, and compares numbers to 100.

  7. Bloom 2
    English

Hears long and short vowels, reads easy books and about 25 sight words, and writes a short story. Ready for first grade reading.

    Math

Reads numbers to 100 as tens and ones, counts by 2s, 5s and 10s, and adds and takes away two-digit numbers without carrying.

Children move up as soon as they pass the level check, at their own pace.

Every program

How every program works

  • Starts with your child

A free 4-minute assessment finds whether they learn best by doing, seeing or hearing. Every lesson starts there.

  • Step by step

Short lessons that build on each other, with review built in. You always know what to do tonight.

  • Checks, not tests

A friendly check-in halfway and a level check at the end show when they’re ready to move up.

  • On screen or on paper

Read-aloud lessons and games on any device, plus printables for tracing, mazes and practice.

Not sure where to start?
